چکیده

Osteoarthritis of the intertarsal and tarsometatarsal joints (bone spavin) is a common cause of lameness in all types of equine athletes; however, it is particularly prevalent among Western performance horses. Osteoarthritis of the proximal interphalangeal joint (high ringbone), although is less common among equine athletes, is also a frequent cause of lameness in several breeds. Osteoarthritis of these ‘lowermotion’ joints develops due to repetitive compression, torsion, and shear strain on the joints. The hallmarks of chronic osteoarthritis of the intertarsal, tarsometatarsal, and proximal interphalangeal joints are articular cartilage damage, joint capsule fibrosis, periarticular osteophytes, subchondral bone lysis, subchondral bone sclerosis, joint narrowing and ankylosis. Therefore, osteoarthritis of these joints is typically difficult to medically treat once the process is underway.

تاثیر لیزر کم توان بر شدت درد و دامنه ی حرکتی افراد مبتلا به استئوآرتریت زانو

Purpose: Osteoarthritis is one the most common chronic diseases of the joints that mostly affects knee joint. Low power laser is one the minimally invasive treatments of osteoarthritis. However, the efficacy of this therapy is still controversial. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of low power laser therapy in reducing pain and increasing knee range of motion compared to placebo laser. ...

مقایسه تأثیر اضافه نمودن روش درمانی مکمل با درمان رایج فیزیوتراپی در کمردرد ناشی از استئوآرتریت در زنان

Background: Low back pain (LBP) is a one of the most common symptoms of vertebral column diseases. Spinal muscles have a outstanding role in maintaining vertebral column function in daily life. But proper function and motion of hip and knee joints also has an important role in performing smooth, fine and nonstressed movements of lumbar spin. Where as accurate and fine motions of hip and knee jo...

The Effect of Knee Osteoarthritis on Excursions of Lower Limb Joints During Gait

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate excursion changes at the hip, knee, and ankle joints during gait in patients with knee osteoarthritis (KOA) of varying severity. Methods: The method of research was causal-comparative (Ex Post Facto). A Vicon motion analysis system with 4 T-Series cameras was used to measure the kinematics variables. Fifteen normal subjects without KOA and thirty patien...

تحلیل دامنه حرکتی و سرعت زاویه ای مفاصل اندام تحتانی در بیماران دارای رباط صلیبی قدامی بازسازی شده هنگام فرود از ارتفاع

Aims and background: Anterior cruciate ligament injury is the most common ligament injury of the lower limb that necessitates reconstruction as a proper treatment approach. It is now up to the researchers to ask, are the altered kinematic patterns in the lower limbs corrected by this reconstruction? The present study aims to analyze the range of motion and angular velocity of the lower limb jo...

Osteochondral lesions in distal tarsal joints of Icelandic horses reveal strong associations between hyaline and calcified cartilage abnormalities.

Osteochondral lesions in the joints of the distal tarsal region of young Icelandic horses provide a natural model for the early stages of osteoarthritis (OA) in low-motion joints. We describe and characterise mineralised and non-mineralised osteochondral lesions in left distal tarsal region joint specimens from twenty-two 30 ±1 month-old Icelandic horses. Combinations of confocal scanning light...
